Itinerary for Namibia & South Africa 2018

Where do our travels take us ?

Friday 9th November

Catch the National Express Bus to Heathrow for our overnight  flight to Johannesburg

Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th

Arrive Joburg early morning and get picked up by friends for a two night stay before we set off

Monday 12th

Pick up our Bushcamper early for the drive south west to our  stop at the Red Sands Lodge near Kuruman via Fryburg

Tuesday 13th

Travel northwest towards the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park for our overnight at the Two Rivers Camp just across the boarder in Botswana

Wednesday 14th

Travel around the Park (Game Viewing) to the next stop at Nossob Rest Camp for one night

Thursday 15th & Friday 16th

Travelling the Park staying at Mata Mata Rest Camp (On the Namibian border) for two nights

Saturday 17th

Cross border into Namibia for the long drive south west towards the SA border and the coast for a one night stay at Hobas rest camp.

This is the area of the Fish River Canyon, the 2nd deepest in the world

Sunday 18th 

After some initial viewing of the canyon drive to Ai Ais rest camp for one nights, relaxing in the hot springs and exploring the canyon and surrounding area

Monday 19th

Drive to AUS on the off road 4×4 trails via Aussenkehr and Rosh Pinah

Stay for one night at the Klein Bus Vista rest camp 

Tuesday 20th

Aus to Betta today on  the D707 trail bordering the Namib Desert  via Spes Bona staying at the Duwisib Rest Camp

Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd

Driving to The Moon Mountain Lodge near Solitare for a two night stay via the Sesriem Canyon 

Visiting the famous Sand Dunes of Sossusvlei. This is going to be a bit touristy but it has to be done

Friday 23rd November

Hitting the coast at Swakopmund for a one night stay at the Tiger Reef Camp. Travelling the northern edge of the Namibia Desert via Homeb, Gobabeb and Walvis Bay on 4×4 trails

Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th

Travel up the Skeleton Coast via Henties Bay to Cape Cross and than turn inland along 4×4 trail to the Mesum Crater. Continue along 4×4 trails for our two night stop at the White Lady Lodge near the Brandberg Mountain

Tour the area around the southern part of the mountain and rock paintings

Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th

Drive north west towards Twylfelfontain for a two night stop at Aabadi Mountain Camp

This is the Damaraland area

Wednesday 28th November

North for a short drive to Palmwag for one night staying at the Palmwag Rest Camp

Drive the 4×4 Palmwag Consession area

Thursday 29th and Friday 30th

Drive north again to Sesfontain staying two nights at the Khowarib rest camp

Explore the dry river beds of the Hoanib etc looking for deserts elephants, lion and rhinos

We are now in Kaokoland

Saturday 1st December & Sunday 2nd 

Drive east towards Etosha National Park for two night stay at Olifantsrus rest camp

Game viewing and chilling

Monday 3rd  & Tuesday 4th December

Travel to the far east of Etosha National Park staying two nights at Tamboti/Onguma Rest camp

Game viewing and chilling

Wednesday 5th

Retrace our drive west in the Park staying one last night camping at Okankuejo camp

Thursday 6th December

Early start for the drive to Windhoek  to drop off our bush camper

Staying one night at the Villa Monte Bella

Friday 7th  to Tuesday 10th December

Up early for our 9.20 am flight to Cape Town. Stay four nights at Cherry House in Hout Bay

Wednesday 11th to Friday  14th

Catch our 11.00am flight from Cape Town to East London.

Drive to Kei Mouth up the Wild Coast for a four night stay with friends Jeff & Cheryl

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th December

Drive back to East London to catch our 12.05 flight to Joburg

Hang around to catch our 21.50 flight back to Heathrow arriving 07.15  on the 16th,  IRENE’S BIRTHDAY .

Catch the 10.55  National Express bus to Exeter arriving  14.55
