Aabadi, well it’s an experience. We get up early, as usual, but Paul noticed a slightly flat looking tyre. After a bit of investigation and using the pressure gauge, we decided to change the tyre! We wandered around the vehicle deciding good points for the high lift jack, we were an extension piece missing. on the correct jack for changing a wheel. We started lifting and all that happened was the axle dropped lower as the main car body went higher. Paul thought a little more, I shouted stop as I felt the car moved. Anxious moments, wheel off, one not back on, car on the move on a high jack. I decided to go for help, thought someone on the site might know what to do. Two boys/lads came along and sort of took over. They dug away the sand to get the wheel in, smart idea, BUT WE COULDNT LOWER THE HIGH LIFT JACK. The lads said they wouldn’t have used that at all. Anyway another lesson learned and three happy chaps off with their tenner each. We’ve decided to go to Twefelfontein to visit the rock engravings (a world heritage site) , the organ pipes and burnt mountain. They are all in the same area, so should be easy. En route we thought we’d phone Palmwag, our next stop and see if we can stay there for two nights rather than one. That was fine so after a walk to the engravings, we tried to get our tyre fixed. We went to a very smart lodge where we had a drink and waited for the ‘garage’ to open after lunch. They couldn’t find a puncture, so hopefully we won’t need that tyre again. We then drive to Palmwag, abandoning our second night at Aabadi as it was a very poor and dilapidated site, the worst we have found.
Palmwag was very organised and we spent an hour by the pool before home cooked meal.
